Introduction to Vezpa
Luke (the founder) explains what Vezpa Coffee Labs is, why he started it, and where thing are headed.
Hi there, my name is Luke and I'm the founder of Vezpa Coffee Labs.
My passion with coffee started in high school after my first breakup. Sad music, lots of driving, and far too much TV. I started obsessing over getting the perfect cup of coffee, even with a modest setup. Along the way, I learned what I liked in a coffee and how to make a cup I loved. However, I felt like the standards in the industry didn't live up to what I wanted.
First, a vast majority of coffee you buy in a supermarket doesn't have a roast date. As a home barista, I was kind of appalled by this. Shouldn't I know if my coffee is fresh? (Spoiler alert: it rarely is)
Second, specialty roasters omitted much of the info about the coffee. Some didn't even put a roast level, so I was flying entirely blind. None I found had the coffee variety either, which provides valuable information on what flavor profiles will come out of a roast.
And finally, even when I did find coffee with a roast date, it was often too old to be considered fresh.
What I was left with were very few coffees that lived up to my labeling standards and it meant that I never had a wide selection of coffees to choose from. What I wanted was a change, and I wasn't going to wait for that to happen.
I've founded Vezpa Coffee Labs in the hope of creating a new standard of coffee. One that respects the barista and is exceptionally good.
First, we always roast the coffee to order. Rest assured, your coffee will never sit on a shelf for more than a day. Our coffee is roasted in micro-batches specially for you. That means each bag is meticulously made by hand for you. Our coffee is always so fresh, we advise you allow it a few days to rest before enjoying.
Next, our labeling is deeply intentional. We will always tell you the roast level, roast date, variety, and what to expect in terms of taste. That way, you know what you're getting.
Lastly, our roasting process is both artisanal and high-tech. With custom temperature curve profiles, a watchful eye, and always a taste test, we make sure your coffee is the best we can possibly make it. The final product is truly exceptionally good and without compromise. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
